Events at Politics and Prose

Hi everyone, I discovered Politics and Prose (a DC book store for those of you who don't know) this year and I saw a few author events that speak to standpoint theory and culture:

1. Monday, March 23, 7 p.m. : Engaging the Muslim World by Juan Cole. Talks about how we need to consider the Muslim perspective when looking at decisions involving the Middle East.

2. Monday, March 30, 7 p.m.: More Than Just Race by William Julius Wilson. Looks at the causes of racial inequality.

Their address is 5015 Connecticut Ave., NW, and you can walk from Van Ness (red line). It only takes about 15 minutes, and is totally worth it.

Bonnie Morris's Reading: Revenge of the Women's Studies Professor

Hi everyone! On Wednesday, April 8, Dr. Bonnie Morris will be reading from her new book, Revenge of the Women’s Studies Professor, at THE ARTS CLUB OF WASHINGTON. Prof. Morris is a professor here at GW as well as Georgetown, so it's a great chance to hear about the profession as well as interesting stories we can all relate to either as majors or interested students. You can buy the book there, then get it signed by Prof. Morris. The Arts Club of Washington is at 2017 I Street NW, near Foggy Bottom/GWU and Farragut West metro. Hope to see you all there!

Vagina Monologues

Hey all! I know the Vagina Monologues is over, I just love it and wanted to know what everyone thought. Who liked it; who didn't. What are everyone's favorite monologues? My personal favorite is "My Angry Vagina," I literally laugh and smile through the whole thing, and then think about it for days after. It's so true! Sometimes I wish I could just shout those things in public- what is up with tampons and stirrups?!?! Although I guess that could become a little awkward... but when you think about it, it shouldn't be. Anyway, let me know!
